Nutrition is defined as giving your body all the macronutrients you need, those are proteins, carbs and fat and getting them from all food groups, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, poultry and dairy for example.

There are different opinions as to what amounts you need of each macronutrient every day and they do depend on factors like age, gender, body type and others but for this exercise let's take a common average: You need 2 ounces of protein, 10 ounces of carbohydrates and 2.5 ounces of fat every day.

Here starts the tricky and laborious part.

You now have to select healthy foods that amount to your macronutrient amounts and your goal calories, and foods do not contain only one element, they are complex often containing several different amounts of different nutrients.

It can be done, you select what you want, weight it, look-up for the nutrients it contains and start your math in a list.


After and/or during your food selection you have to be thinking on combinations to make meals, you can look-up for recipes on how to make your meals with the contents you have selected and they are plentiful on books and the internet for example, but as we said, it is a laborious and arduous task.


As a component of healthy eating you have to include water to stay hydrated evenly during the day.


After a while add variety selecting new foods and recipes and you are all set.

So you see, the science is to a certain extent simple, the problem is on the execution, it takes time and work, but it can definetely be done.
