Target Heart Rate (THR)

The Target Heart Rate (THR) is a desired range of heart rate reached during aerobic exercise which enables one's heart to receive the most benefit from a workout.

Benefits of Exercising

Improving your mood, combating diseases, managing your weight, boosting your energy level, getting better sleep and improving your sex file are just some of the benefits.

Monitoring your exercise intensity is the best way to get the most out of your cardio workouts.

The target heart rate calculator below is one way to make sure you're working within your target heart rate zone, the most effective zone for improving your fitness and burning calories.

To make a more precise calculation you need to calculate your 'Resting Heart Rate' in beats per minute, read below on how to get an estimate yourself.

Your 'Resting Hear Rate' is a good indication of your current fitness level.

To accurately measure your resting heart rate: Count your pulse on your wrist or on the side of your neck prior to getting out of bed in the morning. Count the number of beats, starting with zero, for one full minute. For accuracy, take your resting heart rate three mornings in a row and average the heart rates.

An approximation will be to measure your heart beats while resting only once for 10 seconds and multiply that number of beats by 6.
